There's a Fungus Among Us
In the damp and the dark, Where light does not embark, There lies a world unknown, A kingdom of fungi grown.
Mushrooms and molds, A sight to behold, With colors so bright, They illuminate the night.
In forests and fields, Their presence concealed, But their power is great, As they decompose and create.
They thrive on decay, Breaking down each day, In a cycle of life, That’s free from strife.
From yeasts to truffles, Each form has its troubles, But their perseverance shows, As they spread and compose.
So let us not forget, This kingdom we’ve met, For in fungus we see, A vital part of ecology.
